How Does Shatavari Root Extract Support Well-Being?*
What is Shatavari?
Shatavari, also known as wild asparagus (Asparagus racemosus), is a herbaceous climbing plant native to India.
It contains steroidal saponins, including shatavarins as key bioactive compounds.*
The roots of the plant (more specifically the rhizome, the subterranean stem that stores nutrient reserves) have been traditionally used in Ayurveda to support female well-being.*
Shatavari and Menopause: Clinical Research Insights*
Shatavari root (or rhizome) has been traditionally used to support well-being and balance during menopause, the stage in a woman’s life when ovulation and periods cease.*
The plant’s properties come from its naturally occurring shatavarins, compounds that share structural similarities with oestrogen, a hormone that declines with menopause.*
The effects of Aspurus®, a shatavari rhizome extract, were evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, multi-center, placebo-controlled study.* The 8-week study involved 70 participants aged 40-65, randomly assigned to one of two groups of 35 subjects. Throughout the study, one group received 250mg of Aspurus® twice a day, while the placebo group received microcrystalline cellulose (without knowing which they had been given).*
At the end of the study, participants who took Aspurus® reported improvements in overall well-being and comfort during menopause.* The percentage of participants who noted enhanced daily comfort related to:
- Temperature regulation: 89%*
- Nighttime comfort: 88%*
- Energy levels: 94%*
- Restful sleep: 86%*
- Emotional well-being: 83%*
- Mood balance: 75%*
Women in the Aspurus® group also reported a 34% improvement in overall intimate well-being, associated with enhanced comfort and desire.*
Participants taking Aspurus® reported an improvement in overall well-being and daily comfort compared to the placebo group, with no significant adverse effects observed during the study.*
Additional Potential Benefits of This Root*
Shatavari rhizome has been traditionally used for its role in promoting balance and overall vitality.* It has been associated with traditional uses related to relaxation, muscle maintenance, hormonal balance, reproductive wellness, and supporting comfort during breastfeeding.* It has also been valued for promoting male vitality, as well as general immune function, and overall cardiovascular, renal, and digestive wellness.*
What Makes This Shatavari Supplement Unique?*
Super Shatavari is distinguished by four key features:*
- Its clinically studied branded extract: We have chosen the high-quality extract Aspurus®, which has been evaluated in clinical research.*
- Its standardization in shatavarins: Aspurus® is standardized to 5% shatavarins, key bioactive compounds in shatavari.* Unlike many other extracts, which are standardized in total saponins, Aspurus® focuses specifically on shatavarins.*
- Its well-calibrated dose: This supplement provides 250mg twice daily, totaling 500mg per day of shatavari extract, the same amount used in clinical research.*
- Its natural form: Our extract comes in vegetarian capsules with 100% natural acacia gum as the only excipient.*
